“This is for you Mom!
I can’t say it often enough. I want the whole world to know what a wonderful mother you are and always have been.
Mom, you are the best Mother on this earth for me. We have gone through a lot together.
We have been separated for some time through my stubbornness. But I found my way back to you and I came back to stay.
You brought me into this life in a time of hardship in Germany after World War II! You fled with your baby, me, from the Russians and you saved us many times from the merciless bomb attacks.
After the war was over times were still unbearable. No work, no decent home, no food.
You took on a job as a housekeeper, thinking that it was in Switzerland. But it wasn’t. It was in Sweden. You had mixed up the countries. You still took the job. You had to learn a new language.
How brave and courageous you are. You are my hero.
Our move to Sweden was the best thing that could happen to me. I had the most magical childhood in the land of Kings and Queens, Trolls and Dreams.
Little did I know how hard you had to work to keep us going. Little did I know of all the tears you shed when I wasn’t aware.
When we moved back to Germany times weren’t as good as your sisters had told you. My playground changed from lakes and woods to ruins filled with grenades.
But you took care of me. You worked even harder and still found time to watch over me, keeping me safe, away from harm.
When I got sick some ten years ago, it was you, who helped me through it. It was you, who gave me the strength not to give up – not to let the illness take over my life.
I won that battle because of you Mom.
Home to me was never a location. Home was with you.
Your example was and is my path. You are my strength. You are the reason my heart still beats with love, compassion, and understanding for life and the needs of others.
I love you Mom. Thank you for being my Mom. Thank you for all your love and care.
Thank you for always being there for me and my family.
I am so grateful that YOU are my Mom. You are an Angel sent from Heaven to help me through my life. I love you Mom!”
